Do you know any Obama History just before the Senate?

Question by Bestbank Real Estate: Do you know any Obama History just before the Senate?
Have you noticed some of what he was performing ahead of he was voted into the Senate?
For educational purposes for non-believers:
ACORN, Obama, and the Mortgage Mess

By Mona Charen

The financial markets were teetering on the edge of an abyss last week. The
secretary of the Treasury was literally on his knees begging the speaker of
the Home not to sabotage the bailout bill. The crash of falling banks produced
the earth tremble. The Republican presidential candidate suspended his
campaign to deal with the crisis. And amid all this, the Democrats in
Congress managed to uncover time to slip language into the bailout legislation
that would provide a dandy little slush fund for ACORN.

ACORN stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now,
a busy hive of left-wing agitation and “direct action” that claims chapters
in 50 cities and 100,000 dues-paying members. ACORN is where Sixties
leftovers who couldn’t get tenure at universities wound up. That the
bill-writing Democrats remembered their pet clients during such an emergency
speaks volumes. This attempted gift to ACORN (stripped out of the bill soon after
outraged howls from Republicans) demonstrates how little Democrats
realize about what caused the mess we’re in.

ACORN does several items under the umbrella of “community organizing.” They
agitate for higher minimum wages, try to thwart school reform, attempt to
unionize welfare workers (that is, those welfare recipients who are obliged
to perform in exchange for benefits) and organize voter registration efforts
(constantly for Democrats, of course). Simply because they are on the side of
righteousness and justice, they aren’t particularly fastidious about their
approaches. In 2006, for example, ACORN registered 1,800 new voters in
Washington. The only trouble was, with the exception of six, all of the
names submitted were fake. The secretary of state referred to as it the “worst case
of election fraud in our state’s history.” As Fox News reported:

“The ACORN workers told state investigators that they went to the Seattle
public library, sat at a table and filled out the voter registration types.
They produced up names, addresses, and Social Security numbers and in some situations
plucked names from the phone book. 1 worker said it was a lot of challenging work
producing up all those names and another said he would sit at residence, smoke
marijuana and fill out the types.”

ACORN explained that this was an “isolated” incident, yet comparable stories
have been reported in Missouri, Michigan, Ohio, and Colorado — all swing
states, by the way. ACORN members have been prosecuted for voter fraud in a
number of states. (See www.rottenacorn.com
.) Their philosophy seems to be that everyone deserves the appropriate to vote,
whether legal or illegal, living or dead.

ACORN recognized really early the chance presented by the Community
Reinvestment Act (CRA) of 1977. As Stanley Kurtz has reported, ACORN proudly
touted “affirmative action” lending and pressured banks to make subprime
loans. Madeline Talbott, a Chicago ACORN leader, boasted of “dragging banks
kicking and screaming” into dubious loans. And, as Sol Stern reported in
City Journal, ACORN also located a remunerative niche as an “advisor” to banks
looking for regulatory approval. “Thus we have J.P. Morgan & Co., the legatee of
the man who when symbolized for numerous all that was supposedly evil about
American capitalism, suddenly donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to
ACORN.” Is this a wonderful country or what? As conservative community activist
Robert Woodson put it, “The very same corporations that spend ransom to Jesse
Jackson and Al Sharpton spend ransom to ACORN.”

ACORN attracted Barack Obama in his youthful community organizing days.
Madeline Talbott hired him to train her staff — the very folks who would
later descend on Chicago’s banks as CRA shakedown artists. The Democratic
nominee later funneled cash to the group through the Woods Fund, on whose
board he sat, and through the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, ditto. Obama was
not just sympathetic — he was an ACORN fellow traveler.

Now you could make the case that before 2008, nicely-intentioned people had been
simply unaware of what their agitation on behalf of non-credit-worthy
borrowers could lead to. But now? With the entire economic globe and
possibly the globe economy trembling and cracking like a cement constructing in
an earthquake, Democrats continue to try to fund their friends at ACORN?
And, unashamed, they then trot out to the Tv cameras to declare “the party
is more than” for Wall Street (Nancy Pelosi)? The party should be over for the
Democrats who brought us to this pass. If Obama wins, it implies hiring an
arsonist to fight a fire.

Organize a clothing swap to save cash and share items

Organize a clothing swap to save cash and share items

With money tight during tough times it is important to locate ways to save – and share what you have. Why not organize a clothing swap with pals, loved ones and acquaintances?

Here’s how to do it:

Clothing Swap: Location

Very first, you ought to select a location. If you know of a community room or municipal developing that is offered for use check there. You might check with your church to see about employing the fellowship hall or gymnasium. If the weather is good, you could also go to a nearby park or host a swap in your driveway. You will require a location with a lot of space for everyone (which includes parking). In addition, be confident to take into account if the location is kid-friendly as numerous participants may possibly have kids with them. You may well want to recommend swappers bring things to keep the children occupied (jump ropes, balls, board games, a couple of toys).

Clothing Swap: Select a date

Determine if you want to hold the swap for the duration of the day or evening, throughout the week or on a weekend. Given that the majority of swappers will be moms, you will most likely have a better response by preparing a swap throughout the week in the daytime.

Clothing Swap: Get the word out

I organized a swap with a quantity of other homeschooling moms. I am a member of a couple of Yahoo! user groups and I spread the word by way of these. You could organize a neighborhood or community swap, a church wide swap, a family members swap, a friends swap or whatever suits you.

Clothing Swap: What can be swapped

It is essentially the organizer’s selection. The last swap I organized, we swapped clothing, shoes, household items, books, even some plants. You can narrow it down to only swapping kids clothes, or only swapping clothing of a certain season (spring/summer or fall/winter). The principal factor to remember is almost everything ought to be free of charge. No acquiring or selling and everyone is responsible for cleaning up whatever they brought.

Clothing Swap: How to set it up

If you are meeting at a church or park with tables obtainable you can plan to set up swap items on tables. Separate and sort like items together. If you are meeting in a yard where there aren’t tables accessible, you can spread plastic tarps or assorted table cloths on the ground for sorted piles. Hand printed or pc-made signs can be utilised to indicate the tables or piles.

At the last swap I organized I had swappers separate items onto tables – 1 for girls clothing, 1 for boys clothing, one for adult clothing, 1 for books and magazines and household and miscellaneous items. If you wanted to organize even further you could separate items in sized and sexed groupings (Baby girls, sizes -2T, Girls sizes 3T-5T, Girls sizes 6-16, and so on.), seasons (Boys fall/winter, boys spring/summer), etc.

Tell all swappers to bring bags or boxes to load up the items they want to take house. At the end of the swap, every swapper is responsible for bagging up and removing the items they brought with them unless prior arrangements have been produced. At my last swap, I took everything I had left over to the Goodwill. Several other people had the identical intentions and two or 3 of us provided to load up items and drop them off.

You could provide a space (a bathroom or other little space) for trying on clothing if the swap is held at a house, community developing or church and a full-length mirror if you have one.

Clothing Swap: How often

If you have enough interest, you can schedule a clothing swap for once a month, once every couple of months, as soon as per season or whenever you really feel the want. I prefer to schedule seasonal swaps but could effortlessly switch to monthly swaps. It would fundamentally depend upon the interest of the other swappers.

Holding a clothing swap is a fantastic way to stretch your dollars and share with other people, so organize one in your community or with your buddies and see how a lot fun – and savings – it can bring.
