You will find Scotland cheaper that England and the scenery is beautiful and the folks are nice. Go to Scotland, stay in B & Bs, rent a car and enjoy yourself. There is absolutely no point in telling him that. He will know that you don't get along with her, but support is what family is about, so support him. He will see her for who she is sooner or later, either way it will be those that support him the most that he runs too. My father in law has recently realised what his wife is like, and now depends on my husband and I for support because he knows we are there no matter what. Other family members think we can say what we like and show no respect, but the fact is our relationship is different, and now he askes us for nothing less than our honesty and support.
